3 Core ChallengesBeefcake Racing Faced

Beefcake Racing is a family-owned performance parts retailer based in Moscow, Ohio, founded by Terry “Beefcake” Reeves. The company sells superchargers, turbo systems, exhaust, wheels, tires, fuel systems, and tuning for late model Mustangs, Shelby GT350 and GT500, F-150 trucks, Camaro, Corvette, and Hemi platforms, and runs its own parts and installation shop. Terry races what he sells, and the business grew on that reputation. With 99% of his sales being generated online, he had been through the mill with SEO and PPC agencies over the years. After a rebrand and a move to BigCommerce, Terry needed a partner who could grow sales without asking for a bigger budget every month.

1st Core Challenge:
The agency running search and Google Ads asked for more budget every month, and site conversion never reflected the added spend.
1st Strategic Shift:
KeenView reduced monthly ad spend by 10% and leveraged strong organic sales growth to double revenue pace year-over-year.
2nd Core Challenge:
Monthly reporting looked the same every month, with no view into what Google was changing or what AI search meant for the business.
2nd Strategic Shift:
Monthly working sessions with KeenView’s team and Terry’s data staff now review organic and paid ad performance and adjust the plan as search and AI shift.
3rd Core Challenge:
In a category with hundreds of parts retailers competing for the same buyers, staying visible required expertise the internal team could not build on its own.
3rd Strategic Shift:
KeenView’s advanced Indexing Optimization system (IOS) and team of experienced analysts give Terry the edge against bigger competitors, enabling him to consistently grow market share month over month.
The Problem
Performance parts is a crowded online category. Buyers know the brand they want, whether that is a Whipple supercharger or a set of Weld wheels, and they compare a dozen retailers before they buy. The major speed warehouses spend heavily to own those searches, and a growing share of buyers now start with ChatGPT or Claude instead of Google. For a business that does 99% of its sales online, visibility is the whole game. The company that migrated his website to BigCommerce offered to run search and Google Ads. Terry stayed with them for years and kept increasing the budget. He watched clicks and conversion himself, and conversion was not where it should have been for the spend. Every month the recommendation was the same: put more money in. With his agency taking a percentage of ad spend, it just didn’t feel like their interests were aligned. He needed a partner who could grow sales without growing the ad budget, and who was paying attention to what Google and AI were changing month to month.
The Solution
The first conversations with the KeenView executive team started with hard data on where Beefcake Racing stood in search and what could be done about it. KeenView’s team laid out a strategy to grow organic revenue across all the search and discovery platforms as well as drive paid search revenue for less budget. Sixteen months in, Google Ad spend is down 10% and sales are up 15%, compared with 6% growth the prior year. KeenView’s team has not asked for more ad budget once. Each month, Terry and his data people sit down with the KeenView team to review keyword placement and campaign performance, look at what Google has changed, and move money where it will work. AI visibility has been part of the plan from the start. Terry now has a partner watching what is coming next, and the confidence that a down year is not waiting for him because nobody was paying attention.

Every month over the last year, year and a half, it seemed like it was ad spend, ad spend, ad spend. They just kept saying you need to spend more money. Being in the car business, profit is not a dirty word, it’s okay to make money. I want you to make money, I just don’t want you to make it all on me. In the 15, 16 months I’ve been with KeenView, they’ve never once said ad spend. We’re spending 10% less on our Google budget, but our sales, the previous year we were up 6%, now we’re up 15%. You’re spending less and you’re doing more. Switching to KeenView was the absolute best business decision I’ve made over the last seven years.

Bumping up ad budgets every month isn’t a strategy for long term growth. You need a partner that can build market share for you by generating high margin, organic sales across all of the search platforms.
